The 'Master Certificate in Supporting Military Families' at Stanmore School of Business exceeded all my expectations. As a social worker in Texas, I was looking for a program that could help me better understand the unique challenges faced by military families, and this course delivered precisely that. The modules on PTSD and the impact of deployment on children were incredibly insightful and provided me with practical strategies I could apply immediately in my practice. The case studies were realistic and helped bridge the gap between theory and real-world application. The instructors were knowledgeable and responsive, and the online platform was user-friendly. I’ve already seen a positive shift in how I support military families, and I’d highly recommend this course to anyone in the helping professions.
This course was a fantastic addition to my skill set as a counselor in Mumbai. While I don’t work directly with military families, the principles of resilience, trauma-informed care, and community support are universal. The course content on cultural sensitivity and the role of extended families in military households was particularly relevant to my practice. The video lectures were engaging, and the downloadable resources have become go-to references in my counseling sessions. The only reason I’m giving it a 4 instead of a 5 is because some of the case studies felt a bit Western-centric, but overall, it’s one of the best online courses I’ve taken. The flexibility of self-paced learning was a huge plus for me.
I enrolled in this course while transitioning from a corporate HR role to a nonprofit focused on veteran support in Stockholm. The 'Master Certificate in Supporting Military Families' gave me the foundational knowledge I needed to hit the ground running. The section on transitioning from military to civilian life was eye-opening—it helped me design better onboarding programs for veterans in my new role. The course materials were well-researched and included interviews with military spouses, which added a personal touch. I appreciated the balance between academic rigor and practical advice. Stanmore’s platform made it easy to collaborate with peers globally, and the final project allowed me to apply what I learned directly to my work. Couldn’t be happier with the experience!
I was a bit skeptical about an online course on military family support since I work in community development in Accra, but this program changed my perspective. The modules on mental health and the stigma around seeking help in military communities were particularly relevant to my work with at-risk youth in Ghana. I gained so much insight into how to build support networks, even in low-resource settings. The course’s emphasis on peer support resonated with me, and I’ve since partnered with a local veterans’ association to pilot a mentorship program. The readings were diverse and included African case studies, which made the content feel more inclusive. My only critique is that some of the quizzes were a bit too basic—adding more scenario-based assessments would have been great. Still, a solid 4 out of 5 for delivering real value!
